It’s worthwhile creating a personalisation screen at the start of the first open of an app. Then the person can choose how they exactly want the app to operate within their environment. I installed Trello and I ended up with 50-odd notifications making insane amounts of noise. If it wasn’t integral to my workflow, I would have uninstalled the app immediately. Good UX increases brand value, as every action a person makes, can tip the scales favourably to recommendations.
